UCP205 vs UCP206 vs UCP207: Pillow Blocks for Brazilian Soybean Equipment

The UCP series is the most-used bearing unit in Brazilian agriculture — from soybean harvesters in Mato Grosso to grain elevators at the Port of Paranaguá. Here is which bore size fits which equipment and what to verify before ordering.

Brazil exports around 100 million tonnes of soybeans every year. Behind that number is an enormous fleet of harvesters, augers, conveyors, and grain elevators — and they all run on pillow block bearings. The UCP series is the most common configuration. Knowing UCP205 from UCP206 from UCP207 is basic literacy for any agricultural parts distributor in Brazil, Argentina, or Paraguay.

What 'UCP' means:

'UC' = insert bearing unit (a deep groove ball bearing with a spherical outer surface and a setscrew or eccentric collar locking mechanism).

'P' = pillow block housing (the 2-bolt foot-mount housing, the most common type).

The number after the letters is the bore code: multiply by 5 to get bore in mm.

UCP205 — 25mm bore:

Insert: UC205, bore 25mm, outer spherical surface OD 52mm.

Housing: cast iron, 2-bolt foot mount, bolt hole spacing 105mm, overall height ~71mm.

Typical applications in Brazil: small grain augers, light conveyor systems, smaller PTO-driven equipment, processing line bearings. The most common UCP size you will sell — every parts shop near a grain-handling region should stock 100+ pcs.

UCP206 — 30mm bore:

Insert: UC206, bore 30mm, outer spherical surface OD 62mm.

Housing: cast iron, bolt hole spacing 121mm, overall height ~76mm.

Typical applications: medium-duty grain elevators, soybean conveyor drive shafts, mid-size harvester accessory components, irrigation pump support shafts in larger operations.

UCP207 — 35mm bore:

Insert: UC207, bore 35mm, outer spherical surface OD 72mm.

Housing: cast iron, bolt hole spacing 137mm, overall height ~82mm.

Typical applications: heavy-duty PTO shafts on medium tractors (common on Massey Ferguson 4275/4290 series in Brazilian operations), large grain conveyors at ports, soybean-loading auger drive ends.

Common equipment cross-reference (Brazilian market):

John Deere 9650/9670/9870 STS combines — UCP206/207 on the unloading auger.

Massey Ferguson 4275/4290 tractors — UCP207 on accessory PTO.

Valtra BH series — UCP206 on the grain tank cross-auger.

Generic Brazilian grain elevator (Bauer, Kepler Weber, AGCO Brasil) — UCP205 throughout secondary conveyors, UCP207 on main drive shafts.

Lock type — UC vs UEL vs UK:

UC (setscrew lock): the insert bearing has two small setscrews at 120° offset that lock to the shaft. Simple, common, but the shaft surface gets a small dimple over time. Good for permanent installations.

UEL (eccentric collar lock): an eccentric collar slides over the bearing and twists to lock — no shaft damage, easier reassembly. Better for equipment that gets serviced often.

UK (tapered bore with adapter sleeve): for installations where the shaft has no shoulder. Less common in agricultural applications.

Default for new Brazilian agricultural installations: UC (setscrew). Default for replacement on serviced equipment: match the original.

Seal type — what to ask for in tropical and dusty environments:

Standard UCP units ship with a contact seal plus a slinger (flinger). For Brazilian Cerrado conditions — heavy dust during harvest, high humidity in storage off-season — ask for triple-lip seal upgrades on UCP206 and UCP207 sizes used in dirty environments. Adds ~$0.30 per unit and roughly doubles seal life.

Cast iron vs pressed steel housing:

Cast iron is the standard. Pressed steel housings exist (lighter, cheaper) but crack under shock loads. For Brazilian harvester and conveyor applications, always cast iron.

Reasonable starting stock for a Brazilian agricultural parts distributor:

UCP205: 100–200 pcs (highest turnover).

UCP206: 60–120 pcs.

UCP207: 40–80 pcs.

UCP208 (40mm) and UCP209 (45mm): 20–40 pcs each (less common but high-value).

Order verification before payment:

1. Confirm bore size in mm (not just the code).

2. Insert specification: GCr15 chrome steel, sealed both sides.

3. Housing material: gray cast iron, painted or unpainted (specify).

4. Lock type: UC (setscrew) or UEL (eccentric collar).

5. Seal upgrade for tropical use: triple-lip optional.

6. Batch number on every carton.
